San Diego Student Vaccine Mandate Temporarily Blocked by Ninth Circuit

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals issued an emergency injunction pending appeal against the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) on Monday after a student-athlete sued the district for religious discrimination because of its COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

In September, the school board of the SDUSD voted in favor of requiring students aged 16 and up to be fully vaccinated against COVID by Dec. 20, which would require them to get their first dose by Monday. Anyone who failed to comply would be forced to attend school remotely.

In October, counsel with the Thomas More Society filed a lawsuit on behalf of the family of a 16-year-old Scripps Ranch High School student, referred to as "Jane Doe" in the court documents. The suit argued that religious exemptions should be allowed if the school district also allows medical exemptions for pregnant students.

Seattle Public Schools Enrollmet is in a Free Fall

So where have all the students gone? Most of the unrolled have opted for online or private schools (smart parents) while others chose to home school. With the current toxic environment in Seattle Public Schools these type of moves by parents are understandable.  At some point if the current enrollment crisis is not reversed the district will be forced to start closing buildings as it has in the past.

Seattle experienced a similar exodus from its public schools during the 70s which was attributed to forced busing.

US National School Board Association

A national federation of school boards has issued a mea culpa after it was revealed the org had pressed the White House to label parents who oppose Covid restrictions as “domestic terrorists,” apologizing after a wave of backlash.

The US National School Board Association (NSBA) issued a lengthy apology on Friday, acknowledging to members that a controversial letter to President Joe Biden “regarding threats and acts of violence against school board members” included inflammatory language while apologizing for the poorly worded missive.

“On behalf of the NSBA, we regret and apologize for the letter. To be clear, the safety of school board members, other public school officials and educators, and students is our top priority, and there remains important work to be done on this issue,” the org said, addressing local school boards which make up the broader organization.

Fourth Death From J and J Vaccine Confirmed in Washington State ....Rare?

A woman in her late 30s has died of a rare blood clotting condition nearly two weeks after receiving a single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine in Washington, according to state health officials. The woman is the first confirmed death in King County, and the fourth person to die nationwide out of the nearly 15 million people who have received the J&J shot since it became available in the U.S. “We at Public Health are saddened by this loss and offer condolences to the woman’s family and loved ones,” the county’s public health department said in a statement released Tuesday. “As with many medications, the risk of serious adverse events is small, but not zero. It is vital for people to have this information in order to make their own informed decisions.”

Why Are School Boards Silencing Parents?

A school board in Virginia attempted to cut off a mother who read out loud from disgusting pedophilia porn books stocked in the school’s own library as part of a “diversity and inclusion” drive.

North Carolina Children Now Must Get Approval From a Parent Before Receiving the Current COVID-19 Vaccine.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina children now must get approval from a parent before receiving the current COVID-19 vaccine available to them under legislation that Gov. Roy Cooper signed into law on Friday.

The written consent requirement is contained in a broader measure that largely expands the medications or immunizations, including vaccines, that pharmacists trained to deliver shots can administer to consumers. It comes even as the U.S. and North Carolina see a marked rise in COVID-19 cases due to a highly contagious variant.

The measure, which received near unanimous support in the Republican-controlled General Assembly, also states that trained pharmacy technicians and interns can administer a COVID-19 or flu vaccine under a pharmacist's supervision.

"This important legislation will help our state administer COVID-19 vaccines more quickly and efficiently,” Cooper, a Democrat, said in a news release announcing the bill signing.

Maker of Popular Coronavirus Test Told Factory to Destroy Inventory

For weeks in June and July, workers at a Maine factory making one of America’s most popular rapid tests for COVID-19 were given a task that shocked them: Take apart millions of the products they had worked so hard to create and stuff them into garbage bags.

Soon afterward, Andy Wilkinson, a site manager for Abbott Laboratories, the manufacturer, stood before rows of employees to announce layoffs. The company canceled contracts with suppliers and shuttered the only other plant making the test, in Illinois, dismissing a workforce of 2,000. “The numbers are going down,” he told the workers of the demand for testing. “This is all about money.”

1,200 First Responders Will File Lawsuit Against COVID Vaccine Mandate

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Representatives for Hawaii union members taking legal action against the state’s COVID vaccine mandate held a news conference at attorney Michael Green’s office on Thursday. Approximately 1,200 first responders are part of the class action lawsuit.

The attorneys announced that they plan to file the lawsuit on Friday in order to try to stop the mandate which takes effect Monday, Aug. 16. This one is on behalf of police officers, firefighters and other first responders.

“I have to choose between that career that I’m committed to or put in an experimental drug that I don’t know what it’s gonna do to me in my body, or I got to give all that up,” said Capt. Kaimi Pelekai of the Honolulu Fire Department.

Pelekai says the City just sent county workers a letter saying they either have to get vaccinated or show proof of religious or medical exemption by Monday — or they could lose their job. KHON2 is asking the City about the letter.

Celebration of a Measure that Places the Burden of Proof in Special Education on the School System Rather than the Parent.

CONCORD – Katie Duran of Wolfeboro was beaming Thursday and said she almost accidentally signed House Bill 581 just after Gov. Chris Sununu in celebration of a measure that places the burden of proof in special education on the school system rather than the parent.

Duran and her mother Carrie, who is headed to Nashville to the Miss Amazing Pre-Teen Pageant, stood with other parents and families for the bill signing for a law that also includes the development of a committee to study the special education Individual Education Plan (IEP) and dispute resolution processes.

Sununu said it was a “bipartisan win” for the state that “hits home for a lot of families.”

“It’s a very complicated path,” Sununu said. “You almost have to be a lawyer.”
State Rep. Rick Ladd, R-Haverhill, called the bill’s signing “almost historical.”

He was a school principal and at one time was also involved in getting special education services for a grandchild.
“When you look into it as a parent, who has the burden of proof? I did not have access to the piles of information” the school had.
Now, he said, the bill has “flipped the burden of proof.”

Home Schooling Exploded Among Black, Asian and Latino students.

Between 2019 and May 2021, home schooling rates jumped from about 1% to 8% for Black students – a more than sixfold increase. Among Hispanic students, rates jumped from 2% to 9%. The increase was less dramatic for White families, where home schooling doubled from 4% to 8% over the same time period. Between 2016, the year of the most recently available data for Asian American families, and May, home-school rates went from 1% 5%.

What is driving the shift is difficult to parse, because of the dearth of research that focuses on Black, Latino and Asian families. But previous studies of Black home schooling families found they were often pushed out of traditional school systems when their children encountered racist treatment in the classroom. In interviews, Latino families expressed similar concerns. And Asian families sought to influence their children’s cultural education.

“There was a lot of discussion about how disabled children are disproportionately given detention, suspended, disciplined, and how even in some states, you know, like school resource officers will actually handcuff or even take children, you know, put them in the squad car or whatnot,” Sotelo said.

Where Did Covid Come From and did the US Govenment Fund its Creation?

Senator Paul argues that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded so-called "gain of function" research—a process involves enhancing a virus in a lab to study its potential impact in the real world—at a lab in Wuhan.

NIH and NIAID have said they supported grants to research viruses in bats and mammals, but had never approved any grant supporting gain-of-function research on coronaviruses that would have increased their transmissibility or lethality for humans.

“Dr. Fauci, as you are aware it is a crime to lie to Congress,” Paul began during the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor & Pensions hearing Tuesday, reminding Fauci of his previous remarks to the committee on May 11th, during which the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) director stated that the NIH has not ever and does not now fund gain of function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

“And yet, gain-of-function research was done entirely in the Wuhan Institute … and was funded by the NIH,” Paul said, citing Wuhan Virology paper entitled, “Discovery of a Rich Gene Pool of Bat SARS-Related Coronaviruses.”

“In this paper … she credits the NIH and lists the actual number of the grant that she was given by the NIH,” Paul said. “In this paper, she took two bat coronavirus genes, spiked genes, and combined them with a SARS-related backbone to create new viruses that are not found in nature.” (Read more from “Rand Paul and Anthony Fauci Clash on NIH Funding In Wuhan: ‘It Is a Crime To Lie to Congress’” HERE)

BLM Activist Accused of Molesting 62 Students Returns to School Board Despite Ongoing Investigation

Black Lives Matter activist Tay Anderson is returning to work at the Denver School Board after stepping down a few months ago amid accusations he molested over 60 undocumented students.

As of today the investigation into Anderson is still ongoing. But that’s what compels Anderson to come back, as he believes the evaluation into his conduct has over-expanded in scope.

According to ABC7 in Denver, the investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct against him have cost the Denver Public Schools Board of Education more than $50,000 so far.

Tay Anderson thought they'd find "credible evidence" by now.

It’s also through the local ABC7 outlet that his announcement of returning to work was reported.

In a email letter to the other school board members:

"Despite promises that this investigation would be completed within thirty days, then later prior to the start of the 21-22 school year, I have fully cooperated and participated in the independent investigation being conducted by ILG. I am now told that the investigation will not be completed for at least another four or five weeks, leading us to mid-August.

Seattle Public Schools Wont Sweep Homeless Encampment Near School

A Seattle-area homeless encampment, the tent community between Bitter Lake and the Broadview Thomson K-8 playground sits mostly on school district property....mostly

According to an article in the Seattle Times the Seattle Public Schools wants it gone by the start of school in September — but a dispute over how the camp should be dismantled has already bought its residents several months of time.

School district officials have resisted what’s known as a “sweep” — removing tents and people on short notice, without an offer of alternative shelter. But Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan has refused to allocate city funds for services for the campers, saying the encampment is mostly on district property.

In April, students at the school had to shelter in place because of a reported gun sighting at the encampment, which later turned out to be a pellet gun. And last month, Seattle mayoral candidate Bruce Harrell held a campaign event at the adjoining park and called on the city to use more of the incoming American Rescue Plan Act funding to house the campers.

According to a Facebook post the pointed headed Chandra Hampson demanded that no one perform sweeps of encampments on school property.

I guess the school board needs to wait until a student is harmed before taking action.

Seattle Public Schools Gulity of Gross Violations of Special Education Laws During pandemic

The Washington state education department is ordering Seattle Public Schools to make up for excessive delays to in-person instruction and medical care for some disabled students during the pandemic.

Under one of two orders issued earlier this month, the school district must provide a year of after-school tutoring for students who were promised in-person instruction because of their disability but faced significant delays getting it — in one case, up to 21 weeks. The state is currently reviewing the cases of 329 kids to determine who may qualify.

Another order requires the district to meet individually with families of 11 medically fragile students the district declined to compensate for nursing care, and discuss whether reimbursement is necessary.

More Conflicting Information Pushed By Big PHarma ?

Highly transmissible COVID-19 strain spreading in Washington state, say UW virologists

Researchers at UW Medicine’s Virology Laboratory are tracking the statewide spread of the highly transmissible COVID-19 Delta variant in Washington, with 170 cases detected as of Monday.

The Delta variant, also known as B.1.617.2, is more transmissible than other mutations of the virus, health experts say. First identified in India, the variant has caused waves of new cases in India, China, Sweden and the United Kingdom — and is now on the rise in the United States, UW Medicine said.

Roychoudhury said FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccines provide the best available protection against the Delta variant, as well as all other variants detected since the beginning of the pandemic.

Nearly 900 People Received Expired COVID-19 Vaccine Doses

The 899 people who received doses of the Pfizer vaccine at the former NFL Experience building in Times Square between June 5 and June 10 should schedule another Pfizer shot as soon as possible, the New York City Health Department said.

ATC Vaccination Services, the company that administered the shots under contract to the city, said in a statement, “We apologize for the inconvenience to those receiving the vaccine batch in question and want people first and foremost to know that we have been advised that there is no danger from the vaccine they received.”   As Zeppelin said.. It makes me wonder.

Over 10,000 COVID-19 Infections Recorded in Americans Who Received a Vaccine: CDC

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced its findings on Tuesday that show over 10,000 vaccine breakthrough infections had been reported as of April 30 out of approximately 101 million Americans who had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

160 patients were reported dead.

As many as 246 Michigan residents considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 were later diagnosed with the virus, and three have died, state officials confirmed Monday.

The cases were reported between Jan. 1 and March 31, and the 246 had a positive test 14 or more days after the last dose in the vaccine series, said Lynn Sutfin, a spokeswoman for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, in an email.

"Some of these individuals may ultimately be excluded from this list due to continuing to test positive from a recent infection prior to being fully vaccinated," she said.

Seattle School Caged Second-Grader New Lawsuit Says

A mother of a 10-year-old boy with special education needs is suing Seattle Public Schools for denying her child an education and for keeping him in what the former principal described as a “cage” in 2019, the lawsuit alleges.

The mother, whom The Washington Post is not naming because she is a domestic violence survivor, is seeking damages to be decided by the court, attorney’s fees and costs, and other relief the court deems equitable.

The lawsuit alleges the school district discriminated against the boy based on his disability and race, and was negligent in protecting him from harm among other claims.

Seth Rosenberg, attorney for the mother, told The Washington Post in an interview Tuesday that the district knew about the tactics of former View Ridge Elementary School principal Ed Roos, but did nothing about it until a groundswell of parents started objecting.

Online Schools Are Here to Stay, Even After the Pandemic

Some families have come to prefer stand-alone virtual schools and districts are rushing to accommodate them — though questions about remote learning persist.

Rory Levin, a sixth-grader in Bloomington, Minn., used to hate going to school. He has a health condition that often makes him feel apprehensive around other students. Taking special-education classes did little to ease his anxiety.

So when his district created a stand-alone digital-only program, Bloomington Online School, last year for the pandemic, Rory opted to try it. Now the 11-year-old is enjoying school for the first time, said his mother, Lisa Levin. He loves the live video classes and has made friends with other online students, she said.

The Coming COVID Catastrophe Part 2

Social media users have been sharing a post that makes several claims of serious negative health effects from the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, including that 6 people died during late-stage trials. These claims are partly false. Six people did die during the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine trials, but only two of them were given the vaccine. The other four were given a safe placebo solution of salt and water. No causal relationship was established between the vaccine and the two deaths, which occurred in line with the normal death rate for the general population. The first person to get the vaccine in the UK is not in critical condition. Four cases of Bell’s Palsy (partial facial paralysis) were also not considered to necessarily be caused by the vaccine but the symptom will be under surveillance when the vaccine is distributed. Precautions have also been added for allergic reactions.

The post (here) says, “Six people died in Pfizer’s late-stage trial of the COVID-19 #vaccine […] (4 of the 6 died from the placebo injection, why would #Pfizer have to use a deadly #placebo, short of manipulating data […] Warning over UK vaccine rollout as two NHS staff given jab suffer ‘anaphylactic reaction’: Regulators urge people with history of ‘significant’ allergies NOT to have Pfizer injection […] Also four people in the United States, who got COVID-19 vaccine shot developed by Pfizer/BioNTech, developed Bell’s Palsy […] Update – Now the first woman to receive covid-19 vaccine in the UK is in critical condition.”

The FDA briefings clarify that the deaths were not deemed to be related to the vaccine: “None of these deaths were assessed by the investigator as related to study intervention”. They explain: “All deaths represent events that occur in the general population of the age groups where they occurred, at a similar rate.”

The study's administrators chose to include in its population a selection of at risk participants (13.63%) The study claims that 66% of the at risk participants were given the placebo solution and 34% given the trial vaccine. The Nuremberg Code (1947) Permissible Medical Experiments. The great weight of the evidence before us to effect that certain types of medical experiments on human beings, when kept within reasonably well-defined bounds, conform to the ethics of the medical profession generally.

History will judge the facts and if our most trusted organizations, doctors and software company founders have violated the Nuremberg Code.

Listen to the Scientist But Which Ones?- The Coming COVID Catastrophe

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said this week it had designated a coronavirus variant first seen in India as a "variant of interest," adding it to the growing collection of viral variants it's keeping an eye on.

Vaccine makers are so worried about the chance new variants will escape the protection offered by immunization that they are already testing booster shots and tweaking their vaccine formulas to specifically target some of the more troubling variants.
And doctors around the world are warning that even more variants will arise as the virus continues to evolve inside the bodies of the tens of millions of people it is infecting.

“I was pushing so hard, and everything went blurry, and I just fell,” Williams said about the fall, which did not prevent her from setting a new school record. “But luckily, I fell at the right spot and crossed the line with my head.”

Williams’s coach, Dave Turnbull, took issue with the fact that she was forced to wear a mask and suggested a lack of oxygen was responsible for her fall.

“I am concerned with the mask rule,” Turnbull said. “This is what I am worried about, and I said this at the beginning of the season. You get a kid running the 800 with a mask on, it is actually dangerous. They don’t get the oxygen that they need. This rule needs to change.”

Oregon: CDC Investigating Woman’s Death After J&J Vaccine

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Oregon health officials said Thursday that federal officials are investigating the death of a woman in her 50s who developed a rare blood clot and low platelets within two weeks of receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine against COVID-19.

The Oregon Health Authority learned of the probe on Tuesday, two days after the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention began the investigation, the agency said. The woman, whose name was not released, received the dose before the CDC ordered a pause on the vaccine amid concerns it could cause dangerous clots.

The woman developed a “rare but serious blood clot in combination with very low platelets,” OHA said in a statement.

Judge Dismisses Recall Petition Against Seattle School Board

“The Court is understanding and sympathetic of the parents’ concerns with children in the Seattle Public School District being subjected to remote learning … However, the Court is limited in its role as a gatekeeper,” Rajul wrote in her order.

Rajul noted the decision to close schools is a “discretionary act and members of a school board cannot be recalled unless they arbitrarily or unreasonably exercised such discretion.” The School Board, she decided, did not make decisions surrounding school closures in an arbitrary or unreasonable manner.

“Our ability to affect change as parents is limited,” Cherkin, a Seattle mom and one of the plaintiffs, said last week. “We don’t have control over the teachers union. We don’t have control over the superintendent. But we have control over the people we vote for.”

She added, “This felt like one of the few forms of recourse we had.”

The plaintiffs also accused the board of failed oversight resulting in reduced outdoor play space; lack of protection of student data and privacy during remote learning; mishandling several issues at Northgate Elementary School and Rainier Beach High School; and failing to consult the Duwamish Tribe before voting on two projects, among other charges.

School Board Members Ask City of Seattle Not to Clear Homeless Camps on School Property

SEATTLE — Parents are feeling increasingly frustrated over two homeless encampments near Seattle schools.

Some campers are actually on school property. With some students back in class this week, parents are worried about their kids’ safety.

“I just think it’s a recipe for disaster,” said Serena Evans, a parent. She’s the guardian for her nephew, who attends Broadview-Thomson Elementary in Seattle’s Bitter Lake neighborhood

Evans said she’s seen drug deals and fights. Parents say the school has now hired a security guard and locked a gate behind the playground. However, the gate also blocks one of the two walking paths to the school.

FDA Official Says One Death Reported Due To Blood Clot Event After J&J Vaccine

US recommends ‘pause’ for J&J shots in blow to vaccine drive

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. on Tuesday recommended a “pause” in using the single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine to investigate reports of rare but potentially dangerous blood clots, setting off a chain reaction worldwide and dealing a setback to the global vaccination campaign.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration announced that they were investigating unusual clots in six women between the ages of 18 and 48. One person died.

Government Database Shows 7,844 Injuries and 181 Deaths Following COVID Vaccine as of Jan. 15 says Children's Health Defense This could be the tip of the iceberg as studies of this database show...

Last week, California health officials temporarily paused a large batch of Moderna vaccines due to a high number of allergic reactions, but reversed that decision a few days later. Anyone suffering from a serious injury will have little legal recourse because they will be directed to the Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program which has rejected 90% of vaccine-injury claims over the past decade.

Los Angeles Unified School District Sued Over Mandatory Vaccine, Digital Tracking Policy

(The Center Square) – California Educators for Medical Freedom, with assistance from the Health Freedom Defense Fund (HFDF), has sued the Los Angeles Unified School District over its mandatory vaccine policy and digital tracking system. Both violate federal law and basic human rights, the plaintiffs argue.

The second-largest school district in the U.S. is mandating that its employees be vaccinated as a condition of employment. The lawsuit claims the mandate is not only unconstitutional, but it is unethical and violates the most fundamental human rights laws.

Fully Vaccinated People Contract COVID-19

Over 100 fully vaccinated people contract COVID-19 in Washington state, officials say

Over 100 people in Washington state have tested positive for COVID-19 more than two weeks after becoming fully vaccinated against the disease, officials said.

At least eight people with breakthrough cases have been hospitalized.

The Washington State Department of Health said further investigation will help identify patterns among the breakthrough cases, such as if a variant of the novel coronavirus may have caused the infection.

On a side note:

Several European countries have temporarily suspended the use of the Astrajabs, including Denmark, Austria and Norwayas well as Thailand.

On March 16, Sweden became the latest country to suspend the AstraZeneca jab.

Anders Tegnell said the pause was a "temporary measure" until the European Medicines Agency (EMA) had completed an investigation into reports of people with severe blood clots.

Germany's vaccine regulator said nine people have died from a rare blood clot in the brain after taking the AstraZeneca AZN, -0.50% AZN, -0.58% coronavirus vaccine

Dysfunctional Seattle School District Adds Another Community Organizer to its Crazy Train Board

Seattle School Board votes unanimously to appoint Erin Dury to represent Ballard, Magnolia and Queen Anne schools

“I am honored and grateful to serve District IV and the Seattle Public Schools,” Dury said after the vote Wednesday. “I recognize the privilege and position of power this appointment has and know that true service will be shown through action and centering community voice, particularly those who historically and currently do not have the access to have their voice heard. I know there’s a lot of work to do and reconstruction to happen. … I am ready to do the work and I am here in service.”

Dury works at Ampersand Community, a nonprofit that consults with community organizations to embed anti-racist practices into their operational structures and management. She’s also served as the executive director of Oregon CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Network, where she helped develop policies and establish private, government and nonprofit partners for the organization.

Denise Juneau, Seattle School Superintendent, Resigning Earlier than Planned

“It makes sense for our students, families, teachers and staff to make this change in May,” said a statement from Juneau in the release. “I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished in the past few years and especially during this difficult year of so many adjustments due to the COVID pandemic.”

Seattle School Board president Chandra Hampson said the decision was “amiable” and “mutual.”

“There’s no juicy story,” said Hampson. “I wish Denise all the best.”

Talks around an earlier leadership transition began three weeks ago, according to Hampson. The earlier departure will allow Jones to have a more direct role in planning for summer school and fall, she said.

Utah Woman, 39, Dies 4 Days After 2nd Dose of COVID-19 Vaccine; Autopsy Ordered

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — During a KUTV investigation into COVID-19 vaccine side effects and where to report them, we found four reported deaths, filed by Utah families and their caregivers to the CDC’s Vaccine Adverse Effects Reporting System.

One case stood out, a 39-year-old single mom from Ogden who died four days after her second dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. Her family, who is now waiting on an autopsy, held a celebration of life for her this past weekend.

Kassidi Kurill, by all accounts, was healthy, happy and “had more energy” than just about anyone else around her. Her family told 2News she had no known health problems or pre-existing conditions.

San Francisco Sues Its Own School District to Reopen Classes

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The city of San Francisco took a dramatic step Wednesday in its effort to get children back into public school classrooms, suing its own school district to try to force open the doors amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The lawsuit was the first of its kind in California and possibly the country, as school systems come under increasing pressure from parents and politicians to end virtual learning. Teachers unions in many large school districts, including San Francisco, say they won’t go back to classrooms until they are vaccinated.

Teachers Don’t Need Vaccines to Open Schools, CDC Chief Says

Vaccinating teachers isn’t a prerequisite for the safe reopening of U.S. schools, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky said Wednesday.

“There is increasing data to suggest that schools can safely reopen,” she said, adding that “safe reopening does not suggest that teachers need to be vaccinated in order to reopen safely.”

Walensky’s remarks at a briefing in Washington come as the Biden administration faces pressure to reopen schools, caught between its pledge to safely do so and demands from teachers’ unions about their working environments.

Covid-19 Pandemic Pushes More Parents to Go All-In for Home Schooling

“The vast majority [of parents] are saying, ‘We’ve been really trying to do what the schools are asking us to do, but we just can’t do this anymore,’ ” said J. Allen Weston, executive director of the National Home School Association, which has been fielding inquiries on the topic.

Public-school advocates say they worry home schooling is isolating for children and lacks safeguards to ensure a basic education. Elizabeth Bartholet, a Harvard Law School professor specializing in civil rights, called for “a presumptive ban” on home schooling in virtually all circumstances last year in the Arizona Law Review. She said home schooling jeopardizes children’s rights to “learn things that are essential for employment and for exercising meaningful choices in their future lives.”

Vanderbilt University’s Joseph Murphy, who studies home schooling, said there is scant evidence of abuse or widespread negative outcomes.

‘Get Ready’ Plan Would Vaccinate Washington Teachers

Reykdal described the vaccine as a “safety net” and an additional safety protocol as schools begin to reopen. “We do not have to wait for vaccines … to open safely today if we follow the safety protocols, most specifically the face covering,” he said, adding that not everybody trusts the vaccine or can medically tolerate it, new variants might require people to receive a vaccine booster and that children will not be eligible for vaccines for many months. “It has no certainty of perfection.”

Former Upstate Teacher Charged in Child's Death has Teaching Certificate Suspended

Ariel Robinson is charged with homicide by child abuse

"The SCDE has reason to believe that, due to the serious nature of this allegation of misconduct, Ms. Robinson may pose a threat to the health, safety, and welfare of students who may be under her instruction, and that emergency action is required. After considering the evidence presented by the SCDE, the chair of the state board finds that Ms. Robinson’s educator certificate shall be summarily suspended until a due process hearing is held and/or this matter is otherwise resolved," the suspension document said.

Do You Trust Them With Your Children's Future

WASHINGTON — Dr. Anthony Fauci says the Biden administration hopes to begin vaccinating younger children by late spring or early summer.

SANTA ANA (CBSLA) – A 60-year-old Orange County man died after receiving a second dose of the coronavirus vaccine. Now investigators are trying to determine if the vaccination played any role in his death.

Hours after getting his second Pfizer dose on January 5, Tim Zook was in the emergency room of the hospital where he worked.

“He just couldn’t breathe on his own, he had stomach problems, he just wasn’t feeling good,” said Kyle Zook, his son.

He fell into a coma within two days and passed away four days after getting the shot.

Late-night freezer failure in Seattle sends hundreds scrambling to get a fast-expiring COVID-19 vaccine

After a freezer failed at a nearby medical center Thursday night, nurses, firefighters and volunteers scurried throughout the hospital in a mad-dash scramble to use as many doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine as possible before they expired

"On-site security and first responders were by his side within seconds, but sadly the man passed away a short time later at a hospital," New York State health Commissioner Howard Zucker said in a statement to Fox5NY.com.

The incident occurred approximately 25 minutes after he was vaccinated, and following the required 15 minute observation period.  Heath officials say he exhibited no adverse reactions or any distress.  They added that initial indications are that the man did not have any allergic reaction to the vaccine.

Bellevue School District takes teachers to court in attempt to return to the classroom

" BELLEVUE, Wash. – The Bellevue School District is taking its teachers to court in an attempt to provide in-person schooling to the district’s students.

On Tuesday, the Bellevue Education Association (BEA) voted to pause the expansion of in-person learning as proposed by the school district until the COVID-19 vaccine is available to all educators.

However, the school district moved forward in welcoming about 770 2nd graders back into the classroom for in-person learning Thursday with substitute teachers, district administrators, and other school staff teaching the students. "

To the extent possible, “it should be a priority for districts to reopen for in-person learning, especially for younger ages,” said Caitlin Rivers, an epidemiologist at Johns Hopkins and a member of the committee.

Most studies suggest the virus poses minimal health risks to children under 18. And the report said that evidence for how easily children become infected or spread the virus to others, including teachers and parents, is “insufficient” to draw firm conclusions.

Seattle police investigating substitute teacher for alleged indecent exposure in online classroom

Det. Patrick Michaud, a spokesperson for the Seattle Police Department, confirmed Thursday that the allegations against the substitute teacher, a man in his 50s or 60s, were reported to police just before 6 p.m. Tuesday. The indecent-exposure case has since been assigned to a detective in the department’s Sexual Assault Unit for follow-up investigation, he said.

Eden Mack, Seattle School Board member, resigns from post

“When I ran for school board, I had hopes that I could help improve things and I’ve always tried to really listen and operate with grace and respect,” Mack wrote. “We’ve made some progress with a few issues but I have ultimately come to realize that the incremental change and Band-Aids are wholly insufficient. No one person is to blame, and so many of us have tried so hard to effect positive change and do right by Seattle’s kids.”  -- Eden Mack

Seattle schools’ special education services during COVID-19 subject of U.S. Department of Education investigation

“According to one local news report last spring, the District told its special education teachers ‘not to deliver specially-designed instruction,’ and disallowed them from ‘adapt[ing] lessons to each child’s needs,’”

https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/education/u-s-department-of-education-launches-civil-rights-investigation-over-seattles-special-education-services-during-pandemic/

" Many families said they hoped a new school year would come with an overhauled approach to special education services, and possibly compensatory education for time missed during school closures in the spring.

Those parents said they were floored to learn their children wouldn’t receive makeup time. Other children sat for months on wait lists to get evaluated for services that are critical to keeping them engaged and on track."

Parents Please Think of Your Child's Future

Anthony Fauci, the U.S. government’s top infectious-disease expert, said he suffered mild side effects after receiving a second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

“I was hoping that I wouldn’t get too knocked out. I did for about 24 hours. Now I’m fine,” he said at a White House event Thursday.

“The states seem to be having such a hard time rolling out the vaccine, I don’t fully understand why,” said Jacobson, of Seattle. “The states knew the vaccine was coming, and I think they should’ve known not to expect much help from the current administration.”
