Eden Mack, Seattle School Board member, resigns from post

“When I ran for school board, I had hopes that I could help improve things and I’ve always tried to really listen and operate with grace and respect,” Mack wrote. “We’ve made some progress with a few issues but I have ultimately come to realize that the incremental change and Band-Aids are wholly insufficient. No one person is to blame, and so many of us have tried so hard to effect positive change and do right by Seattle’s kids.”  -- Eden Mack

  1. The remaining Seattle School Board ought to be admonished for allowing teacher Jesse Hagopian to make editorial (and not fact checked) comments on the front page of this paper. Teachers are expected to be better than this!

While Mr. Hagopian is certainly entitled to the view that racism exists, the race incendiary rhetoric he has offered today serves no one. Yes, perhaps it helps a certain group of people fulfill their misguided need to stoke their hate for others, but in the end, will this create a more equitable, just and peaceful society? I think not.

This business of twisting every single news event into a claim only certain groups have been victimized has to stop. EVERYONE yesterday was victimized. It was a TERRIBLE event!!

Please, the apparently inept capital police did not sit down and make a plan at all, much less did they consciously or subconsciously decide to treat this particular mob differently based on its predominate race.

Any teacher touting otherwise, has a shameful, divisive agenda.

All I am saying is give peace a chance!

  2. It's the Teachers Union and Far Leftists who have been ruining it for families. We need more STEM education, more shop classes to teach the trades (since college is so expensive now), and less SJW and Wokeness.

Case in point is Jesse Hagopian making headlines again. Instead of putting the WA State Legislature under Citizens Arrest this time or calling for the Defunding of SPD by 50%, he's complaining that non-black people weren't treated more harshly 3,000 miles away. 4 people died but apparently that's not enough. The guy is a teacher here in Seattle at Garfield!

The State needs to intervene and get the SJWs out of education and take the politics out. Our kids are not political pawns used for money, power, or wokeness!

  3. The problem is that the Seattle School Board is dysfunctional.

Funding for Seattle Schools is at $20,000 per student, but the results are dismal and continually declining. The School Board had become a far left political theater.
