You can be denied a gun
for reasons beyond being institutionalized, as both federal and state
laws prohibit firearm possession for individuals with certain mental
health adjudications, involuntary commitment to a mental institution, or
a determination by a lawful authority that they are a danger to
themselves or others due to a mental illness.
