Defund The Police Seattle City Cousel Member to Leave Post

Seattle City Council member Tammy Morales is resigning, she announced Wednesday, criticizing the way the rest of the council has been operating.

Morales then listed eight examples of the council’s conduct, saying her colleagues have interfered with the ability of nonpartisan staff to provide objective policy analyses; stifled First Amendment rights by having public commenters arrested; and “passed 11 bills to increase the punitive nature of our criminal legal system without any additional meaningful accountability for our police department,” among other alleged misdeeds.

LGBTQ Activist Murders Father Over Trump's Victory

A Blue Origin employee married to a prominent trans author and journalist has been accused of killing her elderly father with an ice axe on Election Night.

Corey Burke, 33, allegedly struck, stabbed and strangled her father, 67-year-old Timothy Burke, in a fatal attack at her $800,000 Seattle home on November 5.

Burke, a training manager at Jeff Bezos' rockets and spacecraft company, confessed to killing her father after he refused to turn off the lights, according to charging documents seen by DailyMail.com.

After emerging from the house with blood 'dripping' down her face, she confessed to police that she 'freaked out,' claiming there was 'something important about Election Day.'

Burke reportedly told detectives that 'she knew that she could not convince her father to keep the lights off', so went upstairs and retrieved the murder weapon.

She then tripped her father and strangled him before attacking him with the ice axe.

School Districts That Spent COVID-19 Money Hiring Now Grapple With Layoffs

An April white paper by the American Institute for Research and the Center for Analysis of Longitudinal Data in Education Research indicated that in Washington state, about 25 percent of the money provided to districts funded new employees, and most of the hiring took place in larger, more urban districts that received larger shares of ESSER funding and served high populations of minority students.

All told, Washington state school districts spent $497 million over three years on additional teachers and other employees.

“If districts are unable to manage reductions via attrition, it is likely that the end of ESSER fundings will be followed by significant layoffs,” wrote one of the paper’s authors, Dan Goldhaber.

Many large school districts, including in Houston; San Diego; Anaheim, California; Hartford, Connecticut; Seattle; and Cleveland, grappled with deficits and job cuts at the end of the prior academic year.

5 months and Still No Arrest in Aurora Shoot Out Despite Clear Surveillance Video of Suspects and Suspect's Car Plates

Despite the Surveillance video and the 41 shells found the search for at least 3 suspects in the July 2024 Aurora Ave the shooting investigation hasn't yielded any arrest. There was even witness says a community activist who provided the video and says a woman was wounded as she ran away, but will be ok.

https://youtu.be/dhFVum0-Y2s

This is just one in an endless series of what could be described as a " Prostitution Turf War" since the Seattle city counsel proclaimed that Seattle police turn a blind eye to the prostitution happening on Seattle's Aurora Ave.  BTW The shootout follows another one in the same spot only a month earlier.

In our request to Seattle Police Dept. for comment we received the following ."

The Seattle City Council repealed the Prostitution Loitering ordinance a couple of years ago. The City also adopted the harm reduction model which identifies the workers as victims and discourages enforcement. The City has contracted with social service agencies to conduct outreach and assist the workers out of the situation.

The Police Department conducts stings to arrest the customers a couple of times per month but it has no impact on the workers. We are also attempting to identify the employers and take enforcement action but it is difficult as the workers had no incentive to turn them in."

Student Struck Other Student 80 Times as Portland School's Staff Stood by and Watched

The mother of a Roosevelt High School student filed a $2 million lawsuit against Portland Public Schools Thursday, claiming the district failed to institute adequate security measures that would have prevented her teenage daughter from being struck more than 80 times in less than a minute as school employees “stood by and watched.”

Lannette Kali filed the lawsuit on behalf of her daughter, Dania Kali, whom the suit says was in her first year at Roosevelt High in February 2024 when a senior girl kicked, hit, grabbed and slapped Dania Kali in a school hallway, with school staff “declining to intervene.” The suit states the older student attacked Dania Kali, then 15, because she didn’t like Dania Kali’s expression as she walked by.

"...her daughter, who was wearing noise canceling earbuds because sounds at school can sometimes overwhelm her, was deep in thought in the hallway when the older student walked up to her and said “Why are you looking at me sideways?”"

"In response to a public records request, however, statistics compiled by Portland Public Schools show reported assaults have remained relatively consistent today compared to before the pandemic among the district’s 81 schools. About 3,000 have been reported so far this school year. That’s more than 20 assaults per day districtwide."

Earlier this year, the father of a former Roosevelt High student filed a $980,000 lawsuit claiming the district negligently failed to supervise another student who raped his daughter in a school bathroom during school hours in March 2022. Portland police said they investigated and forwarded the case to the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, which declined to prosecute for reasons that were unclear. Police said investigative records for the case aren’t available because it appears they have been expunged.

Berlin Freezes School Budgets While Allocating Billions For Migrant Housing

Berlin’s public schools are facing a budget freeze that has halted spending on key activities, including school trips, as the city contends with major financial challenges.

In a letter issued on Wednesday, Education State Secretary Christina Henke (CDU) informed school administrators that they are no longer allowed to enter into “financially effective” contracts that extend into the next financial year. According to Tagesspiegel, this restriction includes school trips, where teachers’ travel expenses — typically reimbursed by the state — will no longer be covered.
